At Colin the Cow, we believe in one big, beautiful idea:

Whether you’re stomping through a muddy field, climbing trees, or roasting marshmallows under the stars — we want to help children (and grown-ups!) unplug, laugh, and fall in love with nature again.

🐄 The Moo-rvellous Beginning
Colin the Cow was born in the heart of the Dedham Vale, when Uncle Gareth saw how much joy his niece found in cuddling the family farm’s real-life Hereford cows.
One day — after reading books, laughing (a lot), and dodging cowpats — Gareth had a crazy, brilliant thought:
“The world is ready for a cute cow revolution!”
And just like that, Colin was moo-ving into action.
🎨 From Drum’n’Bass to Daisies
To bring Colin to life, Gareth teamed up with legendary illustrator Ben Somers — school friend, creative genius, and underground art wizard (some even whisper he might be the real Banksy 👀).
Ben swapped turntables for tent pegs and started sketching cows in camping chairs... and soon the first Colin the Cowbook was born!

We want our books to be more than just bedtime stories — we want them to spark a lifelong love of reading and the great outdoors.

The best part? Rushbanks Campsite — Colin’s real-life home — is a place you can actually visit in the beautiful Dedham Vale on the Suffolk/Essex border. 🗺️
