“…Rushbanks Farm campsite on the Stour, the river that separates Essex from Suffolk. We shared the site with a scout troop, and Geoff and Ann Davies, two retirees and the unlikely adventurers behind River Stour Boating, which runs canoe trips throughout the summer…”

Practical Caravan

“…Landscape painter John Constable thought this pretty river valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, so picturesque he painted it time and time again… Dedham Vale is a beautiful spot for a country stroll, or you can hire a little rowing boat and go for a paddle…”

Beautiful location, clean facilities and friendly atmosphere

It’s right by the river so great for paddleboarding and canoeing. If you don’t get a river pitch it’s only a stones throw away

“…Where the river opened out more, sometimes the plantlife in the water was so abundant it was like paddling across a meadow. The air was alive with translucent blue damselflies and larger dragonflies darting about from one plant to another…”

Carefree camping by the river

Our reviewer Charlotte Bond tried out this popular site near Sudbury, where technology goes out of the window in favour of getting back to nature. You don't have to go abroad to have fun in the sun - why not stay close to home and try a holiday under canvas?

We both loved it, got to have a fire and the hot showers were free!
— Deborah B. (Mature couple)

The kids loved the canoe to the pub, the hire of fire pits, plenty of space to play. Lovely walk through the woods to the 11th century church with the Wiston Dragon on the wall
— Darrell E. (Family with older children)

This was our second visit to Rushbanks and it didn’t disappoint. It is a beautiful setting, the staff are wonderful and it has everything you need for a relaxed camping trip away from the hussle-bussel of everyday life. This is probably our favourite campsite.
