Paddle straight from Rushbanks on the River Stour

This is what makes Rushbanks different: you can launch directly onto the River Stour and spend the day exploring one of the most beautiful stretches of Dedham Vale. It’s peaceful, scenic, and brilliant for families.

We keep it simple—training and river maps are provided before you set off, and we have free ponchos available if the weather turns.

Canoe Hire at a glance

  • Times: 10:00am – 7:00pm (9 hours)

  • Price: £70 all day

  • Buoyancy aids: children FREE / adults £8 per day

  • Capacity: up to 3 adults, or 2 adults + 2 children

  • Route note: you can paddle to The Anchor Inn, Nayland (you’ll need to carry around two weirs)

One of our favourite guest adventures is a gentle paddle to The Anchor, Nayland—lunch or a drink by the river, then an easy cruise back. It’s the kind of day the kids remember.

Canoe & Paddleboard (SUP) hire — how it works

Whether you want a relaxed paddle or a full river adventure, we’ve made it easy:

  1. Choose canoe or paddleboard (SUP)

  2. Pick your preferred day

  3. We confirm availability by email

  4. Payment is taken within 24 hours once confirmed

How to book: add canoes/SUPs during the booking process and select your preferred day for paddling.

If we can’t provide your chosen day

If weather or operational reasons mean we can’t provide canoes/SUPs, we’ll reschedule where possible. If rescheduling isn’t possible, you’ll receive a refund minus a £25 processing fee.
